Katrin is a German architect who has worked with Dr. Wolfgang Feist, founder of Passivhaus-Institut in Darmstadt, Germany. The term Passive House (Passivhaus in German) refers to rigorous, voluntary standard for ultra-low energy usage in a building reducing its ecological footprint. The standard is used for office buildings, schools, supermarkets, multi-family housing and single-family homes. There are an estimated 25,000 certified structures of all types in Europe. Ms. Klingenberg brought this concept to the US and currently there are over 55 projects nationally registered for certification.
