Green Building Tour – April 24 – 27, 2008
A tour of green buildings and alternative energy sites in Richland County was offered in conjunction with the Environmental Education Council of Ohio’s annual conference. The tour and green building professional issue forum featured Mohican School in the Out of Doors, Malabar Farm’s Visitor Center, and the Gorman Nature Center. Active and passive solar, geothermal and wind systems will be on display, along with a green roof and composting toilets.
Ohio Green Schools Summit – March 19-20, 2008
Ohio School Facilities Commission’s Green School’s guidelines require at least LEED Silver rating for all OSFC funded projects. These high performance schools will integrate daylighting, indoor air quality and energy efficiency to run efficiently, save money, protect natural resources and provide superior visual, acoustical, and thermal comfort.
The Ohio Green Schools Summit explored the implementation of Ohio’s newly adopted LEED standards for school facilities design. Two days of seminars conducted by national experts provided an exciting new opportunity to participate in and provide a safe, quality and inspiring environment for Ohio’s children!
Sustainability Now! – May 16, 2008
A Joint Conference of Simply Living and the Social Responsibility Initiative of the Ohio State University CFAES (College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Co-hosted by Columbus Green Building Forum. An action packed conference on living in a more sustainable way and what communities are doing to promote sustainability.
May 16: An Evening with Jim Merkel
May 17: Full Day of Interactive Workshops on Personal and Community Sustainability
The Central Ohio Youth Summit on the Environment was held concurrently with Sustainability Now! This Summit is for youth interested in the environment and in affecting change in their community.
